Moving abroad from Belgium with your own vehicle
If you wish to settle abroad and bring your own vehicle which is registered in Belgium, you must find out locally about the conditions for clearance and registration of the vehicle.
In EU Member States, the official website of the Ministry of Transport must indicate the steps to be taken when moving with your own vehicle (following the example of our page “Moving to Belgium with your own vehicle”. See also the customs website of the country concerned.
When your vehicle is registered in the destination country, do not forget to return your Belgian plate to have it deregistered. As long as you have a registration plate, road tax remains due.
