  • Calls for CEF projects - AFIF

    What is the AFIF?

    The Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility (AFIF) is a funding instrument to support the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure along the TEN-T network. AFIF2 will be implemented through a rolling call for projects, with three cut-off dates: 24 September 2024, 11 June 2025 and 4 March 2026. More information about the call can be found on the CINEA website.

    1. How to apply?

      You can apply by going to the EU Funding & Tenders Portal. More information on how to submit a grant application can be found on this page.

    2. What projects are eligible for funding?

      This call for projects covers the deployment of alternative fuels infrastructure for road, maritime, inland waterway and air transport. In addition to the support to high power electricity recharging stations and hydrogen refuelling stations, the following new funding opportunities will be available:

      • Support to megawatt recharging stations for heavy-duty vehicles;
      • Support to electricity and hydrogen supply at airports;
      • Support to electricity supply and ammonia and methanol bunkering facilities in ports.

      AFIF supports mature investment projects having received a financing approval letter from an Implementing Partner or from a public or private financial institution established in the EU.

  • Cut-off date for obtaining a validation

    Grant applications must be validated by the Member States concerned. In Belgium, depending on the type of project, grant applications must be validated either by the FPS Mobility and Transport or by the Regions.

    Applicants wishing to have their file validated by the FPS Mobility and Transport are requested to submit it by 4 march 2026 at the latest to the following email address: EUfunding@mobilit.fgov.be.

    Application files, validated by the FPS, must then be submitted to the CINEA by 20 february 2026 at the latest (via e-grants).
