Transfer of the federal government bank accounts to BNP Paribas Fortis: temporary unavailability and change of the BIC code of the bank accounts

During the weekend of 13 and 14 December 2025, BNP Paribas Fortis will take over all federal government bank accounts from bpost. 

On Friday 12 December, bpost will therefore close those federal government bank accounts. 

To avoid a payment being refused, we recommend that FPS clients refrain from making payments to federal government bank accounts from 12 December up to and including 14 December 2025. 

Change of the BIC code of the bank accounts 

As from 15 December 2025, please make sure to use the BIC code of BNP Paribas Fortis (GEBABEBB) for payments from abroad. 

Companies (both domestic and foreign) using accounting software that automatically fills in the BIC code are therefore advised to update this code in due time (but should also note that the current BIC code must be used up to and including 11 December).
